Doctor Lemniscate might be considered as a crackpot by some of the Etherboy old guard, if any of them were still alive. But that only goes to prove the point! With a keen interest in the Life Sciences in order to achieve true "life eternal," the good Doctor was an ideal candidate for service on the deep-space Sojourn station. There, far from the scourge of Paradox and the Technocracy alike, Doctor Lemniscate used his knowledge of Science to the benefit of all. The extensive hydroponics bay, responsible for no small amount of essential oxygen for the station's complement, was one of his many endeavors. Needless to say, the phenomenon of Disembodiment has cut short his hoped-for extended stay in the far reaches of the Umbra. Out there, Paradox cannot touch the strong-willed mage intent on living forever. Then again, what is existence as a spirit if not eternal life, of a sort? The good Doctor did not survive the trip back from Sojourn, as disembodiment claimed him. And yet, the chantry mages suspect some part of him lives on, in or through the young Etherboy Apollo Carlisle. The boy caught on to his parents' nascent corruption before anyone else, and saved his sister from them. Whatever the circumstances may be, the hope that Doctor Lemniscate achieved his goal in some way is a pleasant notion...it may even be true. |
